Well, you just started, or your about to start. Well here is the basics on how to start your future Thief/Bandit.
Dice Roll Stats
However you make your character look is fine. What matters most is the Dice Roll. It determines what your starting stats are, and being a future Thief it should have the best roll possible. Your stat roll should be as follows:
STR-4 (or if your a future STR Bandit, anythings fine)
DEX-X (anything rolled in this is fine)
INT-4 (Thieves do not need INT as it is for Magic Attacks, and it is USELESS for Thieves.
LUK-X (anything rolled in this is fine also)
Thats the basics of what your stat roll should look like for your future Thief.
A lesson on STR Bandits
Now, as stated above, STR is only needed for future STR Bandits. You might be wondering, "Hey, what exactly is a STR Bandit?" Well, I'm going to tell you what one is, so you don't get confused later on in this guide. STR Bandits aren't essentially good. Bandits are bad enough as is. Creating a STR Bandit causes your Bandit to be weaker, as you are taking away from LUK which matters more on your Thief. The main reason for STR Bandits is to use Cutters.
Cutters are Daggers that require STR to be equipped...A.K.A. Str Daggers.
Cutters have FASTER speed as a Daggers speed is FAST. Speed doesnt essentially matter when attacking. You get the same amount of hits in, in about the same amount of time.
Cutters speed becomes FAST at higher levels and Daggers speed remains FAST.
The main thing is they have a couple more weapon attack on them, then the current level dagger. Which barely makes up for the STR you did not add. In fact, according to hidden-street.net, and its damage calculator, I would be doing more damage IF I had not added STR. STR Bandits are about the same as LUK Bandits, but I dont entirely suggest STR Bandits as much anymore. At level 40, because of my STR I didnt have enough LUK to wear my Level 40 equips, and I had to buy AP Reset Scrolls from the Cash Shop. You will most likely have the same problem if you follow the STR Bandit build. Ive met someone with a similiar problem, but he realized it sooner. I have seen great STR Bandits, and they are still a great choice. Just if you choose to be one, plan out an AP Guide, of how you are going to add your AP for each level, and make sure you have enough points in your DEX and LUK for your equipments, so you can equip them at the lowest possible level.
Places to Train
Taken from the main Thief guide:
Level 1-4: Blue and Green Snails in Maple Island and Lith.
Level 4-6: Blue, Red, Green Snails and Shrooms in Maple Island and around Henesys.
Level 6-10: Do not train on [Orange Mushroom]]s, for they are far too difficult and will take many hits to kill. Snails and Shrooms are still good EXP at this level.
This should all take place on Maple Island
Stats to Add
Well this is very simple. Its only from level 1-10. Basically by level 10, you need 25 DEX to become a Thief. Your INT and STR should be 4 at level 10, and your LUK should be any other points you can add to it.
If you plan on being a STR Bandit your STR should be at 10 immediatly.
Child: Thief
So, you've become a Thief? Well, I say, "Good Choice." Theres alot of Thieves running around in Maple now days, but either way, you still have the right to be what you want to be.
[edit]
Stat Distribution
First off, we should talk about you Stat distribution. Your DEX should be at the least 25, or else you cant become a Thief at level 10.
STR-Uneeded for all Thieves. The only reason you would need it is if you planned on being a STR Bandit.
DEX-DEX adds to your Accuracy, so DEX isnt needed as much as LUK. The only main reason for DEX is for your equips and Accuracy. DEX should be Twice your Level. Thats YOUR LEVEL x TWO
INT-INT is USELESS for thieves, as it only adds to Magic Attack and MP and it should still be 4/5. It should always remain 4/5.
LUK-LUK determines the strength of a Thief. LUK is the basis for a Thieves' power. It should get every remaining point you didnt add into your other skills.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In simpler terms each level you should do something like this:
Add 2 DEX each level (I say get it to 26 instead of 25, so you don't have to touch it untill level 14)
Add 3 LUK each level
and for STR Bandits
Add 1 STR each level (starting at level 21. Your str should be 10 untill 21, when you raise it to 11)
Add 2 DEX each level (same as above, get it to 26 instead of 25, right away, so you dont have to touch it untill level 14)
Add 2 LUK each level.
What I mean by getting your DEX to 26 is, instead of raising your DEX to 25 for your job advancement, stop it at 26 before job advancing. That way, after you job advance, when you start following the Thief pattern, when you turn level 14, you start adding 2 DEX to keep it twice your level. From level 10 ~ 14 you should add all 5 points into LUK or 1 STR and 4 LUK for STR Bandits.
Training
Training is a very hard thing for me. The number 1 thing to remember about training is:
Train on enemies that give a good amount of EXP that you can kill within ONE to TWO hits. Anymore hits, and you will just be wasting time, especially if you are using a skill, then your just wasting MP. Not a good thing.
Well besides that, lets get back to the training. Training is a very difficult thing to do if you have no clue where to train. If you follow the number one rule, you shouldn't have many problems, but nonetheless, some monsters can still be strong. And you may not find monsters you can easily kill with one or two hits. So I've collected some information from some other guides, and users in game, and Ive developed this Places to Train list. You should be at least level 10 by now, so we'll start from there. Also, just to say, I train all over, so most of this isn't exactly my opinions. In fact, you should not take this as a hard-and-fast guide, it makes your Maple life boring and there may be better sources of EXP elsewhere.
Level 10-15: Slimes or Orange Mushrooms are good monsters to train on. The Orange Mushrooms may still be to strong for you to handle at level 10, but if you can handle them, go for it, as you gain good EXP from them. (as taken from the main Thief guide): If you havent made the job advancement at level 10, and you are level 11 or higher...you should delete your current character and make a new one. You miss out on crucial Skill Points you could use. I advanced at level 11, and I didn't see any problem with this, but I do regret not adding those points into my skills.
Level 15-20: Pigs and Ribbon Pigs. Pig Beach is a great place to battle pigs. If they are to much for you to handle, run back to the Orange Mushrooms.
Level 20-30: For future Bandits, which is what were going for, I advise, as many others do, Green Mushrooms. Being at the lower levels and going to be a Bandit, these are advised as Double Stab should kill them fairly quickly. You can also try Horned Mushrooms but if you find yourself wasting to much MP return to the Green Mushrooms. Also, the Kerning City Party Quest is a great way to train and level, and even make new friends. But beware if you are on a congested server, the time spent trying to get into PQ may not be worth the EXP earned.
When you are level 30, you are to immediately go and complete your Job Advancement. Do not gain any more levels, as that would not be good for skill distribution on your future Bandit skills.

What skills to Add
Well, this is what I made up, and I'm sure it will be really helpful for anyone who follows this. This is basically my preferation, but I'm sure many others would agree this is a good skill distribution. Now, being a future Bandit, you are not to add any points into Lucky Seven. Also, if you dont want to start adding to Nimble Body, you should add to Double Stab. If you add to Double Stab first, I say you should work on some Nimble Body, and max those two skills first.
Level 10: +1 Nimble Body
Level 11: +3 Nimble Body
Level 12: +3 Nimble Body
Level 13: +3 Nimble Body
Level 14: +3 Nimble Body
Level 15: +3 Nimble Body
Level 16: +3 Nimble Body
Level 17: +1 Nimble Body (20/20 MAX), +2 Double Stab
Level 18: +3 Double Stab
Level 19: +3 Double Stab
Level 20: +3 Double Stab
Level 21: +3 Double Stab
Level 22: +3 Double Stab
Level 23: +3 Double Stab (20/20 MAX)
Level 24: +3 Disorder
Level 25: +3 Dark Sight
Level 26: +3 Dark Sight OR +3 Disorder
Level 27: +3 Dark Sight OR +3 Disorder
Level 28: +3 Dark Sight OR +3 Disorder
Level 29: +3 Dark Sight OR +3 Disorder
Level 30: +3 Dark Sight (18/20) OR +3 Disorder (18/20)
Disorder is almost a useless skill, so most people will suggest adding the minimum of 3 to Disorder, and the rest onto Dark Sight. PICK ONE OR THE OTHER. Not both.

The Job Advancement
Blah blah blah, Ill edit this later, when I have all the information about job advancing.
Well now you are a Bandit. Again I say "Good Choice." I'm all for Bandits and I like them far more then Assassins. And not many people pick Bandits, so I encourage you to have fun with your new bandit.
Teenager: The Bandit
So, as I said already, your a Bandit. Woo! Not much I can really say now. So Ill go with stats and pros and cons.
Stats:
Being a Thief your stats should be somewhat similiar at level 30.
STR-4 Unless you are planning on being a STR Bandit. It should then be Your Level - 10 Example, LEVEL 30 STR should be 20
DEX-60 Your DEX should remain twice your level for now. Keep it at the minimum of whats needed for your equipment.
INT-4 INT is not needed for a Thief and it should be as low as possible. It would only increase your Magic Attack.
LUK-?? I'm not sure of the exact amount, but it should be more than enough to wear your equipment, seeing as it has all the other points not added into DEX or STR
Pros:
Can battle up close
The Savage Blow skill can attack up to 6 times in a second
Great Damage
Some people say it requires less mesos have
Cons:
Is not ranged
Can not attack as fast as Assassins. (The main Thief guide states that, but I say they can attack faster...but they are basically even.)
Pots can cost alot, especially being up close and taking damage, and Savage Blow draining MP
Training
Onto the training. Training is still very hard for me, and I level very slowly. I've taken this list from the main Thief guide also. I trained everywhere, and did quests, which is mainly how I leveled, so I cant exactly put my own input in about where you should train.
Level 30-34: Wild Boars and Evil Eyes are good for now. As an Assassin, you may want to try Wild Boars, as for a Bandit, try Evil Eyes. Also, if you're into making big money from drops go to Chronos in Ludibrium but only if you have many potions and you are an Assassin.
Note From Player: Bandits can also go to Wild Boars around level 33-35. Levels 30-32 should go to Ant Tunnel 1 & 2 and train on Horny Mushrooms and Zombie Mushrooms.
Level 35-40: By now, you should be pretty strong. You can make a choice of either Wild Boar or Fire Boar for both Assassin and Bandit. Wild boars would still be good until the mid forty's (40-43),even though it is a pain.
Level 40-45: Try Jr. Cellion, Jr. Lioner and Jr. Grupins. They give good EXP and great drops.
Player's Note: You can do the Ludibrium PQ for great exp., and great drops.
Level 45-50: By now, you should be able to fight Star Pixies. They drop a fair amount of Pan Lids and give decent EXP. For fast leveling please got the the Ludibrium PQ.
Level 50-55: Star Pixies or Zombie Lupins. Good drops and good EXP. Stone Gollems or Block Golems in Ludibrium would also be good.
Level 55-60: Zombie Lupins, stay there. If your getting bored you could also try the various types of pixies.
Level 60-70: You can either go to Drake's Meal Table (Assasin, Bandit) or Hot Sand (Bandit). Coolie Zombies are the best exp at these levels. It will be hard to get a spot though because pratically every other class trains there.
What Skills to Add
Again, this is a list I made up and may be similiar to the main Thief Guides. Mainly because I edited the main Thief guides skills to my liking, and what I thought would be more appropriate.
As a Bandit, you can take two starting options: Master Savage Blow: Dagger, or Dagger Mastery first.
Level 30: +1 Dagger Mastery
Level 31: +3 Dagger Mastery
Level 32: +3 Dagger Mastery
Level 33: +3 Dagger Mastery
Level 34: +3 Dagger Mastery
Level 35: +3 Dagger Mastery
Level 36: +3 Dagger Mastery (19/20)
Level 37: +3 Savage Blow: Dagger
Level 38: +3 Savage Blow: Dagger
Level 39: +3 Savage Blow: Dagger
Level 40: +3 Savage Blow: Dagger
Level 41: +3 Savage Blow: Dagger
Level 42: +3 Savage Blow: Dagger
Level 43: +3 Savage Blow: Dagger
Level 44: +3 Savage Blow: Dagger
Level 45: +3 Savage Blow: Dagger
Level 46: +3 Savage Blow: Dagger (30/30 MAX)
Level 47: +1 Dagger Mastery (20/20 MAX), +2 Dagger Booster
Level 48: +3 Dagger Booster
Level 49: +3 Dagger Booster
Level 50: +3 Dagger Booster
Level 51: +3 Dagger Booster
Level 52: +3 Dagger Booster
Level 53: +3 Dagger Booster (20/20 MAX)
Level 54: +3 Haste
Level 55: +3 Haste
Level 56: +3 Haste
Level 57: +3 Haste
Level 58: +3 Haste
Level 59: +3 Haste
Level 60: +2 Haste (20/20 MAX), +1 Endure
Level 61: +3 Endure
Level 62: +3 Endure
Level 63: +3 Endure
Level 64: +3 Endure
Level 65: +3 Endure
Level 66: +3 Endure
Level 67: +1 Endure (20/20 MAX), +2 Steal
Level 68: +3 Steal
Level 69: +3 Steal (8/30)
Level 70: +2 Disorder (20/20 MAX) OR +2 Dark Sight (20/20 MAX), +1 Steal
The main Thief guide showed maxing Dagger Mastery at Level 70. I thought it was foolish, so I chose to max it earlier, and at Level 70, if you followed this guide, Dark Sight or Disorder should be level 18. That sounds foolish too, but thats why it states adding 2 points into either of those skills. Also, all the other main important skills should be already maxed, and all thats left is Steal. If you maxed Dark Sight before becoming a Bandit, like I, something will not be maxed...like my Nimble Body, so add into Nimble Body if that isnt maxed.

The Third Job Advancement
Well here we are. Finally, MapleStory Power leveling its time to teach you about the Third Job Advancement. Well actually, my main is still level 42, so I cant really teach you much. Actually im not planning on working past this part untill I figure out how I think the skills should be distributed and such.
